So you booked a Caribbean all-inclusive vacation.
Congrats — you’re about to experience sunshine, snacks, and sleep without someone yelling “MOMMMMM?” every 10 minutes.
But now comes the real question:
What do you actually pack?
I’ve traveled to more all-inclusives than I can count, survived the chaos of traveling with a family of five, and learned exactly which items make or break a trip. Here’s your no-nonsense, advisor-approved, “don’t forget this or you’ll be mad at yourself” Caribbean packing guide.
🧳 Clothes to Pack (The Essentials)
✔️ Swimsuits (2–4)
One for drying, one for wearing, one for backup when both betray you.
✔️ Swim cover-ups
You’ll live in these. Bring 2.
✔️ Dinner outfits (resort casual)
Most resorts don’t require formal wear. Think dresses, jumpsuits, linen pants, polos, or breezy tops.
✔️ Shorts + tanks
Pool → lunch → pool again.
✔️ Light sweater or denim jacket
Indoor restaurants = Arctic.
✔️ Comfy sandals + flip-flops
You won’t need heels unless you really want them.
✔️ One “cute but comfortable” outfit
For photos so you don’t look like a sunburned gremlin.
🌞 Sun + Beach Gear
✔️ Reef-safe sunscreen (lots of it)
Resort gift shop sunscreen costs more than your flight. Just make sure it’s TSA-approved.
✔️ Aloe or after-sun gel
Because you will miss a spot.
✔️ Sunhat
The bigger the brim, the fewer regrets.
✔️ Sunglasses (bring 2)
You’ll lose pair #1 on day 2.
✔️ Beach bag
You’ll need it for towels, snacks, kids’ “treasures,” and 47 other things.
💧 Toiletries to Bring
✔️ Travel-size first-aid kit
Band-Aids, ibuprofen, Pepto, Tums, antihistamine…
(You do NOT want to be sick in another country without these.)
✔️ Hair products
Humidity will humble you.
✔️ Makeup basics
This is not the place for a full glam routine — your face will melt.
✔️ Mini hand sanitizer
Resort doors, buffets, flights… enough said.
📱 Electronics + Travel Essentials
✔️ Portable charger
Your phone will be taking 800 beach photos a day.
✔️ Waterproof phone pouch
For pool + beach pics without panic.
✔️ Travel documents
Passport, confirmation numbers, transfers, insurance.
✔️ AirTags for luggage
Because airlines love chaos.
🤑 The “People Forget These Every Time” Section
These items separate the amateurs from the pros:
✔️ Insulated cup (Stanley, Owala, etc.)
Keeps your drinks actually cold at the pool.
✔️ Tipping money
Singles and fives — trust me.
✔️ Liquid IV or electrolytes
Dehydration on day 2 is not a personality trait.
✔️ Waterproof beach card holder
Room keys LOVE to disappear.
✔️ Bug spray
Some islands = mosquitos who treat you like a buffet.
✔️ Medicine for kids (if bringing them)
Try finding children’s Tylenol in another country — good luck.
🧺 If You’re Traveling With Kids (I’m so sorry)
✔️ Extra swimsuits
They’ll swim, dry, swim, nap, swim, spill something, swim again.
✔️ Snacks they trust
Caribbean Oreos are not American Oreos. Learned that the hard way.
✔️ Goggles
Otherwise you’ll pay $42 for a pair at the gift shop.
✔️ Small toys or card games
Rain happens. Bored children also happen.
🍹 If You’re Traveling Without Kids (congrats)
✔️ Outfit you can day-drink in
Self-explanatory.
✔️ Something fun for dinner
You deserve to look hot on vacation.
✔️ A good book
Even if you don’t read it — the vibe matters.
✔️ Hydration packets
Again… day drinking.
🧠 Packing Tips From a Travel Advisor (aka Me)
✔️ Don’t pack white swimsuits
The water turns them transparent. You’re welcome.
✔️ Bring a cheap beach tote
Never take your expensive bag to the pool.
✔️ Pack a foldable duffel
For souvenirs, wet clothes, or the “I didn’t pack this well” panic.
✔️ Carry swimsuits in your carry-on
If luggage is delayed, you can still swim immediately upon arrival.
✔️ Keep sunscreen in checked luggage
Unless you enjoy TSA throwing away $40 bottles.
😅 For the Chronic Overpackers (Hi, it’s me. I’m the problem.)
If you’re a chronic overpacker like I am, here are the “non-negotiables” that absolutely do need to come with you — no matter what anyone says:
-
Portable CO detector
Safety is sexy. And hotel ventilation can be questionable. -
Mini sound machine
Because who wants to listen to Dad snore all night?
(Not that my kids have loudly asked, “Do you REALLY sleep with that thing every night?” Yes. Yes, I do.) -
Every medication you might possibly need
Because nothing bonds a family faster than hunting down children’s Tylenol in a foreign country.
Pain relievers, stomach meds, allergy meds, motion sickness meds, prescriptions — pack. them. all. -
Stainless steel portable straws
Caribbean resorts love paper straws.
Cute idea… until they dissolve into sadness halfway through your drink.
Save your beverage — bring your own.
Basically, if it makes your life easier, happier, or quieter… pack it.
Overpacking is not a flaw — it’s a lifestyle.
🌺 Travel With Purpose, Travel With Ease
Whether you’re traveling with your partner, your best friends, your family of five, or running away from your children for a weekend — packing well makes all the difference.
If you’re planning a Caribbean all-inclusive and want help choosing the right resort (Hyatt? Dreams? Something adults-only?), I’d love to help design a trip that feels intentional, relaxing, and effortless.
